If you’ve never read an Ally Carter book then leave because you are not welcome. I’m kidding! Stay please because if you’ve never read an Ally Carter book then this is the perfect opportunity for me to share one of my favorite authors with you. I almost guarantee that she’ll become one of your favorites, too. Enter Ally Carter.
The first Ally Carter book I read (and one of the best series she has) was the first Gallagher Girls book, I’d Tell You I Love You But Then I’d Have to Kill You. The book was captivating from the start and I’ve long since bought the entire series. Cammie Morgan (the main character) basically lives in Hogwarts. The only twist is, there’s no magic - just spy gadgets. It’s a thrilling book, but still very lighthearted which is one of the main things I love about the series. Even though Cammie could probably kill you with a sock, she’s still just a teenage girl with the same problems that you have. You’ll love her.
After I fell in love with the Gallagher Girls, I moved onto the Embassy Row trilogy. This one is just as good as the Gallagher Girls series, but a bit more serious. It deals with a lot of physiological stuff that’s a bit beyond me, but it also includes a fearless girl, Grace Blakley who’s switch is constantly flipped to “survival.” I recently just finished the last book in the series about a year after finishing the second (I know, way to go me) but I assure you it did NOT disappoint. It was clearly fabulous. I kind of devoured it in two days.
Then, it’s time for the Heist Society series. I love all of Ally Carter’s books dearly, but Heist Society is my favorite. To be honest, it’s a pretty confusing story to follow, but that’s what I liked about it; it kept me on my toes. Full of mischief and large-scale thievery and so much genius that your head will explode after each book. Literally.
And, then, Ally was like “What could I do to make people love me even more?” Quick answer: she wrote Not if I Save You First. I devoted this book in 24 hours. This book has to one of my favorites! It’s a bit different from quite anything you’ve ever read because though there are some flashbacks, the main part of the story is basically told in a period of two days. It’s kind of a romance, but it’s filled with so many twists and turns that you’ll be hooked on the storyline.
And, that’s it! Those are Ally Carter’s books, and I’m *positive* you’ll be able to find at least one series that you love. She has a few novellas (ahem prequel to the Gallagher Girls whatttt?!) and some adult books, but all of her best work you just saw. I hope you’ll check it out! Btw. This is my first post on the Books page of my blog, so I hope you enjoy and make sure to subscribe! Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to go buy the Ally Carter books I have yet to own.
Love,
Becca
P.S. Please ignore my tea light attempt at being artsy. I need to get me some fairy lights;)
